About Studio Joo

Studio Joo is a brand of thoughtfully-designed and handmade objects by Brooklyn-based ceramic artist, Elaine Tian. Comprised primarily of porcelain or stoneware vessels and light fixtures, the work combines sculpture (form/materials), design (function), and drawing (mark-making). All her work is inspired by the wabi-sabi aesthetic. Studio Joo has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times, New York Magazine, TimeOut NY, Food & Wine, Dwell, and in books such as Chic Boutiquers at Home (Ellie Tennant), Pottery You Can Use (Jacqui Atkin), and The Encyclopedia of Pottery Techniques (Peter Cosentino).Read their story
