My name is Eliss Halina, owner of Saul’s Beauty Shop and esthetician with over 10 years of skincare experience and Amber Draperies creator! This isn’t the first version of Amber Draperies. My Močiutė (ma-chu-ta), Lithuanian for Grandma, first made Amber Draperies. Coming to Canada to escape war- she landed in Nova Scotia a Displaced Person. After completing her debt to the government she used the knowledge and skills she had to eventually open up a curtain store at the corner of Runnymede st. and Bloor st. W. in Toronto. While the business is not one that will be studied for it’s massive success, it provided for my Grandma and then ailing Grandpa, my Mom and Uncle and to this day we still have gifts from her hard work that give us support. I have faced a much easier life than any of my grandparents or great grandparents, their perseverance and grit gave me opportunities I value everyday. When COVID became a point of severe stress I know I could prevail, because my ancestors in great hardship can not just create lasting opportunities, but also find love and family. In honor of being far from the first woman in my family to start a business, I decided to re-invent the name of my Močiutė’s business to use my knowledge to succeed in Canada. This line is formulated using my years of spa and skincare knowledge. Each item created by me (down to the label design!) and created in small batches.
