Mumutane is a Danish home decor brand inspired by the Nordic minimalism and vibrant African aesthetic. Every cushion is unique. The front is made of wax print textiles purchased by women who run small, local textiles shops in Westafrica. These textiles contain a lot of tales of life in Africa, which gives the products a special story. The back is made of leftover luxury textiles from the upholstery company, Kvadrat. The aim is to create ’products with purpose’, which is why Mumutane has a sustainable approach with a focus on minimising textile waste, create jobs in low-income countries, as well as production with social impact tailoring businesses in Denmark. The cushions are adaptable to your preference; one side express Nordic minimalism, and the other African liveliness. This cultural crossover adds a personal design experience to any conscious, modern home. The name Mumutane means ’we humans’ and the philosophy behind is that we work across cultures and borders to create better conditions for more people. Mumutane became B Corp-certified in 2021.
