GenderFail (founded in 2015) is Be Oakley's publishing, programming, and archiving platform. GenderFail is not non-profit but profit-for-survival or profit-to-continue-our-work-without-other-means-of-capital, and, most importantly, to make money for others I publish, to create profit-for-labor. With GenderFail, publishing is personal; it’s a tool for disseminating imperfect but powerful ideas. GenderFail proudly supports PACBI (Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel) and is in full solidarity with the Palestinian people. Since 2019, this small but dedicated press has sold over $600,000 worth of our work to 130+ bookstores worldwide. GenderFail publications can be found at bookstores in North America and the European Union, including Printed Matter (Chelsea NYC), Bluestockings (LES NYC), Quimby's Bookstore (Chicago), Ulises Books (Philadelphia), Good Press (Glasgow), Casa Bosques (CDMX), The ICA Store (Richmond), and so many others. With GenderFail, the project has published work by numerous artists, including E. Jane, Lex Brown, Legacy Russell, Alok Vaid-Menon, American Artist, Demian Dineyazhi, Paul Paul Soulellis, A.L. Stiener, Eileen Myles, Pamela Sneed, and many others. GenderFail publications can be found in the library collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Brooklyn Museum Library, and over 100 others.
