My name is Megan Park and I’m the creator and owner of Stripes and Olives and based in Fullerton, California. This business was initially created in 2008 in hope of finding a creative outlet after becoming a first time mom. Between working full time and being a mom and wife, I made what I could and sell on Etsy after putting my son down to sleep. I created invitations to knitted goods to handmade clothing and sold it on Etsy. While it was fun to create all these items, I had difficult time focusing on that one thing that tugged at my heart. In 2018, a friend was looking for an Asian looking doll for her daughter. She looked everywhere and couldn’t find one. I tried to make a doll by hand. It took hours! After much research, I made my first doll using an embroidery machine. Since then, I’ve been making dolls representing kids of various ethnicity and abilities. Each doll is created specially to look like the child. Eventually I expanded my line to making modernized hanbok dresses for kids and adults. Hanbok is traditional Korean dress and outfits worn during holidays and special occasions. These dresses and outfits are typically made with silk with beautiful embroidery. Modernized hanbok are made for everyday wear and made with 100% cotton or linen blend fabric. This shop, the items i create has helped me to embrace my Korean culture and my heritage.
