Metz Textil & Design GmbH was acquired in 2004 by brothers Ralf and Frank Iding from the Metz family. Overall, the company can now look back on more than forty years of history. Metz is now headquartered in Essen in the Ruhr area. Metz has a standard range of products made from two material lines; 100% wool felt and the first plant-based felt that Metz presented for the first time under the Violan® brand name at the end of 2015. Violan® consists of 70% corn fiber PLA and 30% wood fiber lyocell. Both fibers are produced in a sustainable and environmentally friendly process and can be 100% biodegradable. In addition to the fact that Violan® does not contain any animal components, it is comparable and equal to wool felt in terms of its appearance, feel and insulation and temperature properties. The suitability of Violan® for everyday use is particularly noteworthy due to its machine washability. Metz is particularly committed to using only renewable raw materials Metz sells goods by the meter and finished products, such as table tops, seat cushions, bags and a variety of other design products in over 70 colors. In addition, we work with various companies from the furniture industry and other sectors to meet their specific needs. For example, the Violan® material is used by Steiff® in the production of high-quality teddy bears and accessories.
