The BUDDELSHIP BREWERY was founded in Hamburg in 2013 by Simon Siemsglüß. From its inception to 2020, our entire range was produced on a 10hl plant in a small, former canned fish factory building in Hamburg-Stellingen. Drived from our former location by the owner of the factory, we had to rethink. We see ourselves anchored in Hamburg's maritime beer culture from the time of the Hanseatic League, but we've never wanted to be pigeonholed up before, and that's when we came up with the idea of adapting and reinterpreting traditional German beer styles. And not just any beer styles, but the ones that suit us. And since we are naturally hypothermic, only the bottom-fermented ones — Pilsner, Schwarzbier, bock beer, export... Since 2021, BUDDELSHIP has only been producing predominantly hop-based, bottom-fermented beers (lager), while we continue to develop our barrel-aged beers on our farm, brewery and distillery — under the name LOST HORIZON. BUDDELSHIP wants to bring the soul of beer — namely passion and craft brewing — back to life and fill it with all the natural, historical and geographical diversity that Hamburg and the world have to offer. Beer is more than just a drink, it is a way of life, closeness to nature and an international cultural asset. That is why we leave our beer as it is: unfiltered, fresh and lively. Cheers!
