Elodie design's jewellery with a conscious awareness of the state of play in society where glamour and fashion is pushed as a means to fix or cover up how a woman feels in herself. There is a natural intention to focus on the celebration of the woman/wearer through the adornment of jewellery as an addition and not a replacement of what is already undeniably beautiful. Elodie completed a Degree in Industrial Design in 2000 in Melbourne, Australia at Swinburne National School of Design, followed by an Advanced Diploma in Jewellery Design in 2002 at Northern Melbourne Institute of Tafe where she received the Graduate Design Award. Since 2002 her work has been displayed in exhibitions across Melbourne, Griffith, Canberra, Hobart and Toowoomba where her ‘Calderism’ project, a series of powder coated lapel/pocket clips inspired by Alexander Calder’s mobiles was acquired for their permanent collection and later short listed for the (inside) Magazine Design Excellence Awards Concept Category in 2005. With both Egyptian and French heritage the Inspiration for the designs is not culturally informed in a linear way. Elodie would describe the design process as subconscious – connected to a depth that is not international so much as it is timeless and universal.
