About Studio Fernes

Fernes is a jewelry brand that exists where art, nature, and magic meet. The name, pronounced FER-nes, is the phonetic spelling of the word 'furnace'. The furnace is the place where transformation happens, where alchemists turn lead into gold. It also refers to the center, the core, and the source of heat and fire. Each collection is designed by me, Christine, and tells a story in which the wearer is the hero. I take inspiration from nature, art history, mythology and folklore. Every piece is handmade in my home studio in Philadelphia using traditional metalsmithing techniques. A little about me: I have had 12 years of experience making jewelry and almost a decade of hands-on fabrication experience working for an established wholesale jeweler in Philly. I am therefore deeply acquainted with all aspects of the maker/retailer relationship, including quality control, shipping punctuality, honoring repairs, etc. I grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and have spent my life engaging with art in all its forms. Lancaster is a town of artisans and the independent shops who celebrate them, and the values related to those things have stayed with me. I believe that when we witness the beauty of nature, or are moved by a piece of art, we are reminded of our connection to the earth and to each other. My mission with Fernes is to make quality, accessible work that honors these connections. Read their story
