About Cabuya Handmade

CABUYA handmade is an ethical design brand based in Quito and designed in Barcelona. We are associated with women communities native from the Andean region, highly qualified, to create hand-made bags and accessories made with endemic natural fibers.Our aim is to empower women artisans through fair trade, revalue their crafts and co-create with them by linking contemporary trends to their products. Our mission is offer to the world high-quality products evidenced by their design and materials while preserving the ancestral legacy of the techniques used to create them. This will allow us to empower indigenous women’s skills transmitted generation after generation. In CABUYA handmade we want to share with you the origin of our products, the hands of the ones who created them. We tell you their history and the place where it comes from. Every detail has been carefully thought out by our team to convey a brand experience that inspires creativity, transparency and commitment to Ecuadorian artisans. All our bags are called Shigras, an ancestral bag from Inca times that was created for the collection of seeds. It is a bag used by indigenous women today and is a legacy that we seek to preserve with our brand. Read their story
