About Atizan Goods by PeaceQuilts

Despite the hardships and challenges of life in Haiti, a group of creative, talented women were determined to use their sewing skills, passed on from mother to daughter, to build a better life for themselves and their families. In 2007 they partnered with PeaceQuilts, a newly formed non-profit organization, supporting the development of independent women’s ateliers. The women soon began to express their creativity and tell their stories by creating extraordinary one-of-a-kind folk art quilts. As their design skills grew, they developed a line of beautiful handmade products, now called Atizan Goods. Quilt scraps are cleverly up-cycled into jewelry, home decorating products, patchwork and rag totes, and charming framed mini-quilts that reflect Haiti’s rich artistic and cultural heritage.Read their story
