Chari Candle Co. is a handmade coconut apricot candle and clean home fragrance company owned by myself, Charittey Scott. In 2020, I was very much in a transitional phase of my life. In the midst of a pandemic, my family and I relocated to Florida, and shortly after I became pregnant with my second child. In trying to make our new place feel like home, I started shopping, decorating, and finished off with a few new candles. However, this was the first time that I not only questioned how often I was purchasing candles, but the quality of the candles that my family and I were breathing. It dawned on me...I could probably make these on my own?... I researched a variety of waxes, fragrances, vessels, and different methods on how to make clean candles from scratch. I purchased a DIY candle making kit, and once I started making them, the process felt so therapeutic. The experimenting and testing of different non-toxic waxes and scents, playing with the numbers to see what formula worked best, and ultimately knowing I was creating a candle that I could thoroughly enjoy. I could set a relaxing atmosphere knowing that the air we breathed in our home remained clean. Fast forward to month 7 of my pregnancy. I still felt the connection to making candles and couldn't wait to start back. I also knew that I couldn't be the only person who wanted clean products in their home that they could also easily access. At that moment, I created Chari Candle Co.
