Tubby Tabby Soaps is a tiny, (queer) family-owned company that makes small batches of handmade soap in Ottawa, ON. With a focus on quality and sustainability, our customers return to us time and time again for our beautiful, unique, hand-crafted bath and body products. We believe in sourcing ingredients that are good for people and planet. That's why we use raw materials like fairly traded cocoa & shea butter, biodegradable ingredients in our shampoo bars and plastic-free packaging options wherever possible. We wrap our soaps in paper, not plastic, and are proud to offer products like solid lotion bars so that we can sell them in a metal tin instead of a plastic bottle. To make our soap, we start with simple ingredients like nourishing olive oil and cocoa butter. Then we add just the right amount of lye to produce the chemical reaction that creates soap! But don't worry—none of the lye remains in the final soap, so it's wonderfully gentle on the skin. We may also add natural botanicals like clays and plant extracts for colour or skin-loving properties. And, of course, we will sometimes make fun designs in the soaps, too! We also believe in giving back to our community. Every year, we donate a portion of our sales to an organization that works to advance the wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ folks, including QTBIPOC. As a queer-owned business, these causes are close to our hearts. And of course, at the end of the day, we make really great soap. We hope you love it as much as we do!
