Nela-Nela introduces unique fermented botanical teas from Georgia in the Caucasus to the UK. Our teas bridge the gap between herbal and black, white and green tea. Inspired by ancient tea tradition and the Silk Road, Georgian tea artisans wither, roll and ferment diverse leaves to create full-bodied teas with beautiful, twisted leaves. These are the highest quality, most wonderfully crafted alternative to herbal teas that appeal to both tea and herbal drinkers alike. They have been drunk for their high anti-oxidant and vitamin content for centuries. Our story We discovered these teas whilst living in Georgia for three years where we established direct relationships with artisanal tea makers. We've been involved in every step of the process, from production to packing. In Georgia, Nela-Nela is a philosophy: slow down, the best things in life take time. Our artisans Season 1: Shota and Nika Shota is the only tea maker in the world to make Fermented Mulberry Leaf and Wild Rolled Blackberry Leaf tea in this way. He spent 2 years perfecting his recipes. Nika crafts Rolled Wild Blueberry Leaf tea alongside organic white, green and black tea. Framed by the jagged teeth of the Caucasus' peaks, wild blueberry bushes grow abundantly in his region, Imereti. He uses the orthodox rolling method of tea making to create beautiful twisted wild blueberry tea leaves. Our packaging is biodegradable.Read their story
