About Azienda Agricola Santa Marina

The Santa Marina Organic Farm is surrounded by unspoiled nature, in Calabria at the gates of the Pollino National Park, among Mediterranean scrub, oak woods and centuries-old olive trees. The company has been family-run for five generations. Founded in the early 1900s, in its recent history it has received national awards such as the 2012 Oscar Green National Award for Ulivar (the natural bitterness to the olives of which it produces) and the National New Award Success Factors 2013. Still because of the bitterness of Ulivar olives, the Santa Marina Farm was mentioned in 2012 in Repubblica as one of the “best green companies in Italy”. In 2014 it was selected among the fifty excellent Italian agri-food companies to be exhibited at the Summer Fancy Food in New York 2014 and in 2016 among the ten Italian productions exhibited at the Salone del Gusto in Turin. In addition to olive trees for the production of Ulivar and extra virgin olive oil, the Augustine apple of Oriolo is also cultivated on the farm, a rare and endangered variety of apple, which grows only here. The production of Ulivar and the Agostina Apple was accompanied in 2015 by a production of Organic Oregano (Vulgar Viride del Pollino variety) with a white flower. Read their story
