BADWAX® CANDLES All of our candles are hand-poured & hand-packaged in Orange County, California. We believe in doing things the old-fashioned way - focusing on quality and crafting things with our hands. Our fragrances are custom made for BADWAX® with premium scented oils ensuring strong, but not overly powering scents. Our mission is to provide the best quality hand-crafted candles in the world while putting smiles on peoples faces. Inspired by Apothecaries & Plague Doctors Back in the day, people did not understand germs or how illnesses spread. During the plague outbreaks in 1619, Charles de lorme came up with the idea of dressing up doctors as birds to protect them. The design consisted of a long coat, gloves, boots, and a wide-brimmed hat, and of course, the bird beak mask. The mask extended half a foot from the face with two eye holes covered in glass and two nostril holes. They believed the sickness was spread by bad smelling air and did what they could to make pleasant scents. Doctors would stuff their beaks with herbs and flowers, sometimes burning them before to fill their masks with nice smelling smoke. Our candles won’t prevent or cure the plague or corona virus, but they will make your house smell great. Hand-poured in Orange County, California with love.Read their story
