About The Day Bar Soap Co

Every year for Christmas, my step-daughter and I complete a handmade project to give out as gifts to friends and family during the holidays. In past years, we’ve made candles, sugar scrub, lip balm, charcuterie boards, etc. In December 2020, we decided to try our hand at soap making. We did a very simple soap project that involved melting down a pre-made soap and adding in our own colors and fragrance before re-pouring the soap into molds. The soap was a huge hit amongst the recipients! Score! The Christmas season that year was also a season of sadness for me. A few weeks earlier, my aunt (and very close friend) tragically passed away. I found solace in solitude but also wanted to keep my mind busy. I had so enjoyed the creativity that the Christmas soap-making project had sparked within, so I began researching how to make soap from scratch – the old-fashioned way, using oils and lye. Once I felt confident that I was ready and comfortable enough to work with lye, I made my first batch and fell in love with the science and methodology of making cold-process soap! And thus, The Day Bar Soap Co was born and officially founded in January 2021!Read their story
