Welcome to Alissa's Flower Farm. We grow and preserve all the flowers and design/create all the wreaths featured on our page. We are woman-owned. Amongst thousands of acres of corn and soybeans, and thousands of hogs and cattle, is a tiny seven-acre flower farm. Alissa Van Zweden started planting flowers as a young girl and eventually, along with her husband Nathan, and their three young children, made the this flower farm their home. With fresh ambition and lofty dreams, Alissa and Nate have been updating and improving the farm. While every square inch of land is filled with every type of flower imaginable, and thousands of bouquets are crafted for farmers markets, many rows of flowers are also cut, bunched, and hung to dry in their repurposed dehydrating cooler. Nathan, a mechanical engineer, has designed a water conservation system, a pergola for farm entertainment, our farm store, and lastly a soil sterilization system to eliminate pests and diseases, keeping the soil free of chemical use. The children join in the work, washing buckets, shuttling flowers from the field to buckets of water and on to the cooling shed, emptying the dishwasher, and learning how to cook. And yes, we do have pets. Presently, THREE tom cats. And a dog named… you guessed it, Dahlia! Read their story
