About My Cup of Tea

In 2015, Carey and Rick Moore purchased the tea business and began the process to convert to a nonprofit ministry serving the women of Orange Mound - the oldest African American neighborhood in the nation. My Cup of Tea provides employment for women in the neighborhood living at or below the poverty level. The women learn practical job skills in a safe, nonjudgemental environment. They are provided a fair wage, lunch daily, uniforms, access to health care, funding for emergency needs, and a garden to grow fresh vegetables. Marketing over 70 varieties of specialty tea from all over the world, My Cup of Tea has employed more than 80 women over the last 8 years and impacted the lives of hundreds of children, grandchildren, and extended family members. My Cup of Tea operates from a restored Victorian-style home at 3028 Carnes.
