We’re Dmitry and Evgeny, two brothers who make wooden sunglasses by hand in our Toronto workshop. Some may consider us fanatics/obsessives/over-the-top enthusiasts for spending six years developing our expertise with wood. But to us, our devotion to detail is a point of pride. During those years, we honed our craft through hands-on experimentation. Using engineering principles, we discovered how to manipulate hardwood so it’s as durable and stable as plastic. Through trial and error, we developed superior fabrication methods that allowed for flexible sizing, testing out the comfort and “stretch” of each frame on our friends’ faces. And we perfected hand-polishing techniques that brought out the beauty of the wood and rivalled the production quality of big eyewear brands. In a conscious move away from mass production and fast fashion, we’re committed to producing quality handmade sunglasses that last. That’s why we approach each pair with a level of intention and care that borders on the devout. Selecting the finest woods. Connecting with local mills and woodworking shops. Sourcing recyclable materials for our carrying bags, cloth cleaners, and packing paper. We see the potential in the unconventional and are obsessed about bringing it to life, sustainably and stylishly.
