About Peace City Soaps

Peace City Soaps was founded by Carolyne and Rob while Rob was in grad school and developed a stress-induced rash. He got tired of using OTC products from big box stores and also needed a small business project for his grad program. He asked Carolyne if she was interested in making soap and setting up a business. She was! Since then they have added anhydrous body butters, face serums, an oil cleanser, shampoo and conditioner bars to their soap line. Carolyne's favorite thing to make is soap because there is a creative element to the design process. It took two years to finalize their main soap recipe which produces a gorgeous lather and a long lasting bar. It took over one year to develop their syndet shampoo bar recipe which is very popular and has a cult following in Salem, OR. It took even longer to develop their conditioner bar formula. Rob is the body butter master and whips up luscious batches of butters rich in organic, unrefined and virgin ingredients. This dynamic duo is very concerned about the health of the planet. Whenever possible they source organic, fair trade ingredients and use sustainable packaging. Their solid products fight plastic pollution one bar at a time and their liquid ingredients are packaged in glass, not plastic vessels. Passionate about human flourishing, Rob and Carolyne seek to encourage peace (individual as well as communal) in both their personal practices as well as their business practices.
