Maker and founder of this black and woman owned business Aquannette Chinnery graduated from college age 18 with a BA in Chemistry. At 18, she also entered a PhD program at MIT from which she later earned an MS in Biochemistry. She also has a JD with High Honors from Rutgers School of Law-Newark. Before starting the company, she used her background in science to create hair products for her own hair and then branched out into others products. She founded JDNatlady’s Creations in 2011 and formulates and creates by hand artisan soaps, lotions, hair products, candles, and more in her workshop on St Thomas, VI. She is also a fine artist (painter) and uses her artistic talent and draws upon the scenic views in the US Virgin Islands to inspire her soap artistry. In addition to providing guest soaps for Point Pleasant Resort for more than 7 years, her soaps are sold at the hotel’s gift shop and at businesses throughout the US Virgin Islands for almost 11 years. Products by JDNatlady’s Creations may be found in boutiques, gift shops, gourmet food markets, and bookstores. The company also sells products on its online store where it has over 110 five star reviews. For several consecutive years, it has won Best of the VI I the soaps category. JDNatlady’s Creations exhibited at NY NOW as part of a group in August 2018 and as a solo exhibitor in February 2019 and August 2019.
