Nature’s Kitchen (Galangso) was founded by me (Rory), my wife Archana, and my son Zachary. We’ve always been on a food journey experimenting with various cuisines, herbs and spices as a means of experiencing new flavors, health and introducing the flavors of our Jamaican & Indian cultures to Zachary. For us, it was friends, family, and a love for sharing the flavors of our culture that lead to the starting of our business. When we moved to Atlanta we both joined a tennis team in order to have a more active lifestyle. I found out early that I wasn’t very good at the game so I started grilling at home games, and I believe that the fragrance of jerk chicken wafting onto the tennis courts that in my opinion won many of the games especially off court and kept getting requests for my recipes. We began production in May 2016 in time to enter the Flavor of Georgia Food Product Contest and was awarded a Finalist award for our Jerk BBQ Sauce in the BBQ category. That was a big win for us, coming out of the gate and be a top-three finalist in such a prestigious competition before our products were even on the shelves. Much of the thought that we have put into our business has been motivated by what we hope to leave behind for our son, a legacy passed on to us through our Jamaican and Indian heritage, which for us is partly based on the transformation and continuance of our culture through food.
