About Bay Area Redwood

Bay Area Redwood was founded with a simple mission: felled urban trees should be put to their highest and best use as urban wood instead of mulch. Since our inception the vision of Bay Area Redwood has expanded to include deconstruction of old buildings undergoing redevelopment, and more recently we are looking into sourcing wood from the catastrophic wildfires affecting the West Coast. The one thing all of our products have in common is that had we not acquired them, they would have ended up in the wastestream and their value destroyed. Now we are doing our part to stop climate change by storing embodied carbon in the wood one tree at a time. We believe wood should be as locally sourced as possible and that our society should decrease its reliance on unsustainable forestry practices like clear cutting, in particular, in developing countries where "exotic hardwoods" are sourced from.
