Founded by Turkish/ Australian/American mother of 5, Ceren Alkac-Lee, OddBird Co was established in 2015 with the purpose of bringing ethically and sustainably made, traditionally crafted Turkish textiles to a modern audience. Our mission is to help preserve the timeless weaving practices of the Turkish culture through our direct partnerships with the artisans that strive to keep their time-honored craft alive. Instead of offering cheaper, mass-produced textiles which is the global norm, at Oddbird Co. we choose to weave our pieces by hand in small batches with our primary focus being on longevity, quality, and timeless design. At Oddbird co we operate on an ‘ethically-made and ethically-priced platform where we honor the artisan and the customer alike. We do not believe in negotiating on price with our craftsman, nor do we believe in over-extending our customers with inflated prices. Through our commitment to this ethos, we are able to offer an ethically-made alternative to other mass-produced goods at an affordable price, So our customers are encouraged to make the sustainable choice without breaking the bank.
