Abelha Ceramics is a dedication to the simple pleasures of life, daily rituals, and an appreciation for slow living. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, I now live in Charlotte, NC. I’ve been turning pots for about 4 years, focusing on functional pottery for everyday rituals - making coffee, drinking tea, or sharing meals. My work’s aesthetic is minimal and contemporary with clean lines and a touch of rustic. I’m guided by principles of “less is more” and “form follows function.” These have been instilled in me during my industrial design education and informs my approach to pottery. I love how each and every ceramic piece is crafted carefully, slowly, and deliberately: a process, itself a ritual, that infuses life and intentionality into ordinary day-to-day items. I hope that same energy is felt when others interact with an Abelha piece. Why "Abelha?" Pronounced “ah-beh-lee-ah”, "Abelha" is Portuguese for “bee.” This little hard-working creature is a recurring theme in my life and the meaning of my mother's name, so it felt right to have it represent my business.
