About Seedball

We are a London-based, multi-award-winning eco-enterprise, established in 2011 by two conservation scientists as the UK's first seed ball company. Recognised for sustainability, our bee-friendly and pollinator-friendly seed ball mixes are crafted in the UK, making them ideal green gifts for wildlife enthusiasts and eco-conscious consumers. All of our mixes are great for bees, butterflies and other garden wildlife, and our growing product range includes something for all retailers. Seed balls are a method of growing wildflowers from seed that is simple and fun and appeals to all ages. The concept is based on an ancient technique for increasing seed germination rates - helping to fill our gardens, balconies and window boxes with native wildflowers, bees and butterflies. It's our mission to help increase the abundance of the UK's pollinators! Wildflowers are naturally slow to germinate, and as such, loosely scattered seed can often be eaten by ants, birds and mice. Seedball helps to solve this problem by encasing the seed in a protective ball of clay, compost and chilli. A barrier of dried outer clay means that the seed is inaccessible to predators, and once sufficient water permeates the clay, the seed inside will begin to germinate - helped along by the nutrients and minerals contained within the ball. The chilli powder continues to deter slugs & snails while the seed ball slowly degrades and the seeds sprout. Simply scatter on top of soil and nature will do the rest!Read their story
