Creating a soft, warm, reassuring, radiant object for you... second nature for Caroline, founder of the brand Comme un rayon de soleil. “I grew up in Martinique, in a sunny atmosphere. I quickly realized how essential it was for me. At the time, I travelled a lot, in the Caribbean, in South America. From this period, I remember faces, landscapes, an art of living, but above all a light that is both comforting and radiant. Since childhood, I have always liked to contemplate and then create, paint, draw, especially the Creole houses of my childhood in their smallest details...” After an intense first professional life in northern France, marked by meeting numerous designers and creatives, Caroline returned to Martinique for several years, to share with her family the warm and contemplative life that marked her childhood. In addition to her professional activity, she is already starting to create lamps made of driftwood, wood collected on the beaches of her native island... How did Like a ray of sunshine come about? It was during a Christmas meal, in 2015, using a bicycle rim, customized with an LED ribbon, that she imagined a wooden object, “a noble material”, whose soothing halo warms hearts and minds. In March 2016, she designed the comforting object she imagined. Like a ray of sunshine is born!
