About Jenni Douglas Designs

Jenni Douglas is a printmaker and illustrator from Edinburgh, Scotland. Jenni started her brand in 2011, and now supplies a wide variety of stores in the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and the US. "My mission has always simple: be passionate about my creative process, use good quality, sustainable materials, buy locally and and don’t worry about making mistakes. I’ve long had a passion for print, particularly the layered, beautifully textured block printed designs from the 1950s and 60s as seen on fabulous textiles, ceramics and in book illustrations. The more I experimented with different types of printmaking, the more I realised how much I enjoyed the straightforwardness and honesty of lino printing, which I could combine with drawing and mark making without too much mess or expense. Ten years on, my business has grown and is different in lots of ways, but my philosophy hasn’t changed. I haven’t strayed too far from my original design and print processes, either. One of the best things about working for yourself is quality control. For example, I’ve always chosen to create my own print multiples and still make each one myself in my workshop. This way, I can make sure all the colours, lines and textures look as good as they should do. I love using the best archival fine art papers and industry standard giclee print technology, which creates a beautiful quality product to last a lifetime." Read their story
