Boasting its feather-weight, durability, and style, SPINOZA Eyewear was created in New York City, by Silja Kim, a consultant-turned-entrepreneur. She was a big nerd growing up, never taking her thick heavy glasses off. It always bothered her that she could not find a frame that would not slip off her nose or leave marks on her face. Yet she had no idea that she would eventually turn that quest to find better frames into her career. Before coming to the US for her MBA at Columbia Business School, she lived in Asia and Europe pursuing her career in management consulting and venture capital. These experiences gave her resources and capabilities to launch her own venture, while amazing fashion entrepreneurs whom she came across in New York gave her inspiration and courage. When she finally had her manufacturing partner making SPINOZA's prototype frames, everything fell into place - her passions and professional background were a perfect fit for the eyewear business. With investment and mentorship from inspiring eye doctors, SPINOZA is now partnering with 70+ retailers and eye-care clinics and keeping bringing more ergonomic yet chic sunglasses and eyeglasses for the customers who pursue a lifestyle of high standards in wellness. 10% of SPINOZA's profits go to cataract surgeries in underserved communities.
