About &Proud

With a pile of plastic, a simple iron and a pocket full of change — We founded Clean & Proud, a non-profit project, to help solve the waste management crisis in Malawi, Africa. We recycle local waste and educate our community through outreach programs. Every time you buy an &Proud product, you support our project. — Beatrice & George CELEBRATING PEOPLE AND THE PLANET Each of the (incredible!) members of our team are local residents of Mzuzu and our permanent employees. We provide a safe workplace, fair pay, and a nutritious lunch every day. We offer training and development opportunities on site. We go above and beyond by providing our staff with retirement and life insurance options and assistance with child care and tuition. We also offer physio sessions and moon cups to our female staff. We collect waste from streets, local dumps, junkyards, businesses, and homes. We recover a wide range of materials, from bulk plastics to sheet metal roofs. Each product recycles at least 5 plastic bags. A tree is planted in Malawi with Root to Fruit for every online order. We collect local waste by bike and trailer. We collect rainwater to clean up collected waste and use human strength instead of tools as much as possible Read their story
