Nida Lu Handmade creates handmade shoes using a 700-year-old Turkish technique, one-of-a-kind clothing from vintage Suzani textiles, and ancient-inspired jewelry. The Love Story: An American girl traveling the world met a Turkish boy running a treehouse hotel. He bought her traditional Turkish shoes. Twenty years of marriage and two children later (Nida & Lu), they returned to the shoes that started it all. Our Shoes: Handcrafted in Gaziantep, Turkey by a family of artisans who've been making shoes for generations. Each pair uses a 700-year-old technique: leather is moistened to soften, then hand-sewn with cotton thread soaked in beeswax. We use five different kinds of organic leather and all-natural dyes. These aren't just shoes—they're heirloom-quality pieces built to last a lifetime. Our Textiles: For nearly 20 years, I've sourced vintage Suzani textiles from Central Asia—hand-embroidered by women for their dowries, with prayers and dreams stitched into every thread. Each textile is 70-100 years old and transformed into wearable art.
