“Tradition has it that in Asia, in the past, the master lacquer made his apprentices swear never to reveal the techniques he would teach them.” Originally, lacquering was intended to make an object resistant and to protect it. It was only in a second time that its ornamental function became preponderant. Eggshell inlay (RANKAKU technique) is a common type of decoration in traditional and contemporary lacquer art. The white of the shells contrasts with the deep colors of the natural pigments. A thick lacquer then brings clarity, light and legibility to this fine mosaic. The quality and depth of lacquer is therefore based on multiple long and delicate operations. Very carefully crafted, all of Candice's creations are therefore unique and precious. Your creations are the work of several days. With the shell membrane gently removed, the shells are then put one by one with tweezers. The next day comes the delicate phase of coloring (secret technique). Then, after drying, follow the multiple steps of sanding and lacquering to accentuate the shine and resistance of the jewelry. So each piece is made with love by Candice. A great discovery for everyone.
