About Störtebekker

As a child, founder Martin has always been fascinated by the legend surrounding North German pirate Klaus Störtebeker. It says that the pirate captain made a deal with the executioner during the execution of him and his crew: All of the crew members lined up, who Störtebeker could still pass after his execution without a head, would be pardoned. Legend has it that the executioner kicked him off after Störtebeker had already passed 13 of his crew members. Admittedly, the legend sounds a bit macabre to today's ears. However, it conveys two important values that Störtebekker stands for: freedom and loyalty. As a sailor, Störtebeker lived the independence of rules and conventions and the freedom to sail on the sea wherever he wanted. But he still felt deeply committed to his crew, with whom he shared this freedom — even beyond death. Störtebekker wants to stand up for this harmony of freedom and loyalty, transferred to the present day! The company believes that every man has his own life in his own hands and can decide how he wants to live, yes, what kind of person he wants to be!
