About LKD Designs

I create fun designs with a modern edge. Most of the items I have created came out of necessity. I needed fun envelopes, so I thought I would create them out of items I already had on hand. My daughter really wanted a doll that looked like her, so I created my first rag doll. All items are handmade by myself and are one of a kind--no cookie cutter items here! I use recycled and upcycled supplies as much as possible in my designs. I have been quilting and designing for almost 16 years. My aunt is an amazing artist and quilter. I first fell in love with sewing when she made me a quilt while in high school. It was one of the most amazing and special gifts I have ever received. The entire quilt was hand-quilted. Since the quilt had a cat on it, I named it "kitty quilt". Although kitty quilt is falling apart now, I still use it every day. No one else in the house is allowed to use it--my husband will often try to use it when he sits on the couch. I will always remind him that kitty quilt is mine. My husband and I have adopted both our daughter and son from Ethiopia. We are strong advocates for adoption both domestically and internationally. Additionally, we support in-country programs that work against poverty. I donate 5% of all sales to Rapha House. Rapha House is a non-profit organization that helps love, rescue, and heal children who been rescued out of slavery and sexual exploitation.
