About Svona Studio

Svona Studio is home to the work of Cleveland artist, Shelly Svonavec. Built in 2017 after years of teaching high school art, Shelly creates paintings and ceramics that strives to capture the nuances of the intimate human experience through the essence of natural elements. Warm & soft tones, flowing texture, and a limited color palette meet strong black line work and solid shapes to create a juxtaposition mirroring the dualities of life. These concepts are represented in the abstract mixed media works, landscape oil paintings, and functional ceramic work. This artwork is meant to enhance the every day moments, creating meaningful rituals from the mundane. Svona Studio has recently opened its doors to fellow female artists and has recently hired apprentices Shelly has taught in the past. The studio has become a budding space for workshop and events to further the accessibility of art and creating in Cleveland. Read their story
