ABOUT PAPER PEOPLE As a busy Mum of two fab girls I was looking for an affordable and easy to wear jewellery solution for my day-to-day style. However, the options available either felt overly fancy, were poor quality or too expensive. So I went back to my roots and began making designs myself that I knew I wanted to wear and I knew other mums would love too. ABOUT THE FOUNDER I’m Jane and I’m the founder and 'maker of jewellery’ at Paper People. I graduated from the University of Dundee and have worked in the jewellery industry since 2009. In my pre-baby career my business retailed in Harvey Nichols and The National Gallery. My work was worn by Emeli Sande and Emma Thompson as well as being featured in Marie Claire, Woman & Home and iD-Magazine. "Following a few years as a stay-at-home mum I decided that it was time to create a new offering, informed by my established experience and grounded in knowledge that sometimes busy Mamas need a shout out" ABOUT THE NAME The name is inspired by one of my favourite children’s books, Paper Dolls by Julia Donaldson. I wanted to reflect the ideas that she expresses in her story. The idea that we are making memories not just for our children but for ourselves. I also love the way that the Paper Dolls sing, “ We're holding hands and we won't let go” which sums up the type of support that mothers need to give one another when we raise our families. I read it and suddenly saw myself as a paper person.
