About 1918 Design Company

Nineteen Eighteen Design Company creates locally inspired goods that celebrate your favorite landmarks around your city. Kaitlin West is the artist that creates the designs. She grew up doing art with her grandmother, who was a local Birmingham Artist, Louise West. Kaitlin’s joy for art was initially sparked by sitting around the dining room table, creating with her grandmother. Louise was born in 1918, which was the inspiration for our new name. Kaitlin is an alumnus of Samford University, where she obtained her bachelor’s of fine arts. She completed her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas. Nineteen Eighteen Design Company is based in Birmingham, Alabama, but we also have designs for Auburn, Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, and Bluff Park. We print our designs on t-shirts, prints, pint glasses, tea towels, and greeting cards. Kaitlin is constantly creating new designs and partnering with local businesses to celebrate the pride we carry in our cities.Read their story
