About Buttonsmith

Buttonsmith began out of a fourth grade class project on trading our founder Henry completed in 2013 when he was a student at Fall City Elementary in Fall City, Washington. Faced with the challenge of making something to trade at a school trading post, he rejected baked goods ("Mo-o-o-om, the baked goods market will be totally oversaturated!") and instead made pinback buttons to sell to his classmates. His dyslexia had made success in school a real challenge up to that point, so when his products took off he was thrilled! That summer, Henry and his mom moved to selling his products at local farmers markets. In 2014 the company moved online to sell products which have grown to include buttons, magnets, lanyards, badge reels, banners, business cards, stickers, shirts, and pet products. Now employing more than a dozen full time employees, the company is run on a day-to-day basis by Henry's mom, Darcy. Buttonsmith's commitment to high quality American made products hasn't changed over the years. The product catalog has expanded from a few hundred products to more than seven thousand, but each product is handmade in Carnation by our team. Our innovative software and manufacturing processes allow us to have the largest selection of pet collar and leash designs on the market.Read their story
