About Kölsche Koks

"Kölsche Koks" originated in Cologne as a project in the trendy pub "Zappes Broi," founded by Dr. Nicolas Lutz and Maximilian Koeser. The idea: a regional shot with a strong Cologne flair that stands out from classic spirits and particularly appeals to young people. Inspired by the Espresso Martini, a product was to be created that combines the taste of coffee, sweetness, and alcohol – as a modern party shot. About a year of development was needed to find the ideal aroma. Numerous tastings at the "Zappes Brennerbude" finally led to the finished recipe: an espresso liqueur with 15% vol., vegan and gluten-free. This way, Kölsche Koks hits the zeitgeist – handmade, sustainable, and consciously consumable. The name is a deliberately provocative pun: "Koks" humorously alludes to the stimulating effect of coffee, while "Kölsche" emphasizes the local origin. Thus, the product combines Cologne's lifestyle, party mood, and self-irony in a bottle. Since its market launch, Kölsche Koks has initially been offered in bars and at events, later also sold online and in retail. With its distinctive design, urban image, and typical Cologne wink, the liqueur quickly became a popular trendy drink.
