Chafed & Cranky Coffee Co focuses on runners, bikers, triathletes and hikers who are out there on the weekends escaping from their adult lives for a bit to go and do hard things. We saw a gap in the endurance sports market. Brands in this space tend to focus on top athletes and talk about performance gains and results. Most people who participate in your average half marathon or triathlon aren't top athletes though - they're just 'normal' folks who have jobs and kids and annoying bosses, and they're trying to squeeze training and racing in around these competing demands. To these people, coffee is a survival mechanism, and an integral part of their lifestyle. Our target market takes sport seriously but not that seriously, and that's where we position ourselves. We may be too old to be wearing this much spandex in public, but we're doing it and loving it, and we're fueling it with coffee. Read their story
