Many people ask why I choose to sit out on the mountain—often in the cold, wind, and snow—to sketch, when I could simply take a quick photo and head back to skiing or the warmth of the lodge. The answer lies in my relationship with the mountains and the memories created there. A few years ago, after a weekend of snowboarding, I found myself longing for that feeling of standing on top of the world—taking in the stillness, the excitement, and the nerves that come just before pushing off down the hill. The snow-laden trees, the laughter of families, the smell of crisp mountain air—those sensations stay with me long after the snow melts. I began sketching on the mountain to truly feel those moments, to slow down and capture the essence of a place that can’t be conveyed through a photo alone. Each watercolor and ink piece I create is more than a landscape—it’s a reflection of the emotions, energy, and connection I feel with the mountains I love. My work tells the story of shared adventures, fleeting moments, and the beauty of being fully present in nature.
