About Telle of the Hills

*Hurricane Helene Update: My studio is up and running again and I am happily receiving orders. Thank you so much for your support during this difficult time here in western North Carolina.* Telle of the Hills is handcrafted in the Appalachian mountains by Telle ter Horst. My designs pay homage the beauty of the natural world and evoke a sense of timelessness. Having spent half my formative years in the woods of Georgia and the other half in Los Angeles, my creative musings are a balance of earthy ruggedness and refined big city modernity. My last name comes from my Dutch ancestors and means "of the hills." I am an artist, not a brand. Every piece you receive is crafted by my hands alone. I like to make as much from scratch as possible, such as my signature ear wires. I source materials from suppliers who emphasize ethical practices, and I am committed to minimizing the amount of waste produced from my own small studio. All of your lovely orders are shipped plastic-free. When I'm not in my studio, I like to be outdoors as much as possible. My yard is filled with curious creatures, a vegetable garden, and a growing native plant collection. I am passionate about preserving the unique biodiversity of the Appalachian mountains, and about supporting local food systems. I donate annually to organizations in my area that focus in these areas.Read their story
