About ArtLight Media

ArtLight Media was born in a beach-side garage in Gearhart, Oregon in 1997. Our Quotation Cards and Prints feature our distinctive hand-carved Neuland Calligraphy alphabet stamps. Those stamps are based on the only hand I could never learn to write properly with an actual calligraphy pen in calligraphy classes with Carol DuBosch. It all started as a hand-made gift -- a calendar to say "thank you" to 75 friends who helped me move from Dallas, Texas to the North Coast of Oregon. The following year, those same friends wanted new quotation calendars for 1998, and they also wanted more! They wanted calendars to give as gifts to their own friends and families. I said YES. In 1999, I began to design ArtLight"s Quotation Cards, adapting the designs from my calendars and offering them through our first website which launched in 2000, designed by our friend Cheth Rowe. ArtLight works to honor the power of Perennial Wisdom. We celebrate the profound knowledge of 21st century teachers, writers, and artists such as Thich Nhat Hahn, Arundhati Roy and Ursula K. Le Guin while understanding them to be opening buds on the branches of a single ancient tree. That tree's trunk is forever alive and firmly rooted in the wisdom traditions of Rumi, Hafiz, Hildegard von Bingen, Lao Tzu, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Emily Dickinson.
