A tea merchant like no other As a pioneer for organic and fairtrade teas in France, Arlette Rohmer started Les Jardins de Gaïa from her home in 1994. Today, we still operate from the same small village in Alsace but with a great team of 85 dedicated people and we are still an independent, family run company. At Les Jardins de Gaïa, we have chosen quality, innovation and transparency. What do we do? - We source premium organic and fairtrade teas, herbs and spices directly from producers, mostly small farmers’ organizations. These are long-term relationships with 40 partner projects in 24 countries. - We create blends in-house and blend at our HQ in small batches. To scent our teas, we select essential oils, natural flavourings, spices and flowers (exclusively organic certified ingredients). - We pack the teas in eco-friendly and creative packages in France. We pack ourselves but are also proud to provide work to local centers whose disabled workers pack our teas and spices (sold under Terra Madre brand). Since 2021, we are an active member of Maison & Savoir-faire d’excellence, a small group of companies that promote the excellence of France’s culinary know-how. Our certifications: Organic, Biodynamic, Fair trade, CSR. Our main B2B customers are specialized shops in France i.e. tea stores, organic stores, fine food stores.
