About Vohky

Tamar is a native Angeleno and global citizen. While living in Italy and Spain for 13 years, she developed a deeper appreciation for the aesthetics and process of design and art. She enrolled in an artisanal shoemaking workshop in Barcelona and completely felt alive throughout the entire process of handcrafting her first pair of leather shoes. This ignited passion, coupled with her familial (bespoke tailor) and cultural ties, lead to the vision of creating her footwear line, vohky, in 2016. Vohky, which means 'spirit' in Armenian, was the perfect fit as you connect your 'spirit' to the sole by manipulating the interchangeable straps on each pair of sandals to create dozens of styles. It also lends itself to the 'spirit' of her ancestors' shoemaking skills, since the oldest leather shoe was discovered in a cave in Armenia that dates back to 3500bc.
