The humble earthworm helps to distribute minerals and nutrients across the soil in addition to improving aeration letting moisture penetrate further into the ground. In the garden the earthworm is helpful. In forest ecosystems that evolved to breakdown organic matter slowly, the earthworm can outcompete native soil insects and microbes, altering the forest ecosystem. Each card is 4"x5" and comes with it's own recycled, unbleached kraft paper envelope. Plantable paper is a biodegradable eco-paper made with post-consumer and post-industrial paper waste that is embedded with seeds. (No trees harmed for this paper!) When the paper is planted in a pot of soil, the seeds grow and the paper composts away.
