Salvia apiana is called White Sage, Grandfather Sage and California Sage. This herb when burned smells sharp, pungent, bright and so powerfully cleansing it could be used for exorcism. This is a very traditional Native American smudge stick herb. White Sage is usually bundled into incense wands called smudge sticks. Light on on the end and then waft the smoke onto the person or object to be cleansed, or circle around the home or ritual space to cleanse a vicinity. The loose leaves can also be burned on charcoal alone whole or ground in combination with other resins or herbs.
