Smoky but sultry, the Speakeasies were one of the brothers’ favourite delivery destinations. The broad behind the bar tricked the punters with coin and card tricks, and handed over her grandpa’s jerky recipe when she lost to the boys’ bet. It was called Sweethearts…sweet, hot and smoky, just like her…and with a small name change and a couple of recipe tweaks, Sweet Heat was born. 100% New Zealand grass-fed beef soaked in a sweet and savoury bath with cayenne pepper and chilli thrown in for good measure, Sweet Heat is great on a cold night with a single malt or bath tub gin, or a moorish snack for a road-trip.
