Jewish folklore says a golem, originally made of clay or mud, is brought to life by a magical ritual and obeyed the creator’s command. The most famous golem narrative involves Judah Loew ben Bezalel, the late 16th-century rabbi of Prague and over the centuries, it has been used to connote war, community, isolation, hope, and despair. The image and concept of a golem resemblances that of many folk story heroes across the globe and has served as prototype for many characters in popular culture. I used stoneware clay, some stains and paints, glaze, and 21k gold for golem’s patches to create an aged look as if golem has been repaired over the centuries. You will receive the golem pictured in the main photo. The figurine is hollow, and if you wish, you can write words you find meaningful and important and place them inside the golem through the eye opening. My golems measure between 2” and 3”, you will get a set of 5 unique figurines.
